The 2020 conference was originally scheduled to take place in Portland, Oregon, USA, on April 1-4, 2020.
The submissions portal for the in-person conference opened August 15, 2020, and closed December 7, 2020.
The registration portal for the in-person conference opened September 15, 2020, and was intended to close at midnight, CDT, March 17, 2020.
Due to COVID-19 disruptions, WSSA was forced to pivot the in-person conference to a virtual format in early March. The registration portal for the in-person conference was closed March 8, 2020, at which time messages were sent to all paid registrants announcing the change and offering several options for handling their already-paid registration fees. A few days later, announcements of the change were also sent to persons whose submissions had been accepted for the conference, but who had not yet registered.
Persons who had already registered for the in-person conference, prior to March 10, were advised several times of various options for the handling of their already-paid fees. Those options were explained as shown below. The option to make any request regarding those fees closed after May 30, 2020.
The registration portal for the virtual conference (for persons not-yet-registered for the in-person conference, and for persons not scheduled for the in-person conference but choosing to participate in the virtual conference) opened on March 18, 2020, and closed on May 26, 2020.
Individual passwords were sent to all registered participants, along with the URL for the conference site, on June 18-21. Those passwords enabled the participants to view the entire site and to comment on all of the presentations.
The virtual conference went live on June 18, 2020, and will remain open for paid registrants to view and comment on all submissions through September 30, 2020, at which time the comment function will be turned off and viewing of submissions and commentary will be opened to the public. Public viewing will remain open through September 30, 2021. After that, the site will be taken down.
